Have you ever
had a huge electronic
file that needed to be organized
into a printed manual
fast?
Bobri
at MIPS did!
What do you do when
all the source material for a large data book is located in individual
electronic files on multiple disks. That was the challenge faced by
the client when she came to LFA for help. The project involved taking
Filemaker database files, and producing five versions of the 23 section
manual with separate covers for five partner companies.
The problem was how to convert this massive data base into an organized
format for book publishing.
LFA reviewed the raw data
and the production requirements, and developed a means to organize
the electronic files, have them typeset, and printed in databook format.
The bottom line
LFA supplied 50,000, 588 page books, within
five weeks.
